September 6, 2011

Los Angeles:  The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is mourning the death of a 24 year veteran who was tragically killed on the freeway while riding his motorcycle.

Today, shortly after 11 am, a 24 year veteran of the LAPD assigned to Foothill Area Detectives was riding his motorcycle on his way to work.  He was driving northbound on the 101 freeway at the 110 interchange.  As he was passing a big rig truck, he lost control of his motorcycle and fell.  The passing truck ran over the officer’s motorcycle and then the officer.

Witnesses immediately stopped and rendered aid, while also notifying police.  The officer was transported to County USCMC where emergency staff did all they could to save the officer.  Unfortunately, shortly after 2:30 p.m., the officer succumbed to his injuries.

The name of the officer will not be released until the next of kin has been notified.
