Los Angeles: In conjunction with the Los Angeles Fire Department, members of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Communication Division will participate in a Saint Baldrick’s fundraiser Thursday. Saint Baldrick’s is a non-profit organization that raises money for research to cure childhood cancer.
In return for sponsor pledges, LAPD 911 Operators, Police Dispatchers and other Communication personnel will join with Fire Department employees to have their heads shaved. Both male and female volunteers’ hair will be cut off as a gesture of support and solidarity with childhood cancer patients who lose their hair undergoing cancer treatment.
This is the second year the Police and Fire Departments have participated in the event.
Anyone wishing to sponsor a volunteer can enroll on the national Saint Baldrick’s web site at www.stbaldricks.org.
