LAPD & LAFD Investigate Suspicious Fire

Los Angeles: On November 6, 2001, at approximately 9:00 p.m., a fire engulfed the home of Newton Area residents in the 100 block of West 62nd Street. The single-family residential structure was occupied at the time the fire started. The occupants were alerted by noise related to the fire and evacuated the location without any injuries.
The residents of the home are known to be active in community affairs and one family member is a Block Captain in the Neighborhood Watch; a Los Angeles Police Department’s crime prevention program.
Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Newton Area and investigators from the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Arson Section are conducting this investigation. The fire is being described as suspicious in origin.
