LAPD Launches New Crowd Management Training

Why:
The Los Angeles Police Department has developed a new strategy involving crowd control techniques as it relates to public assemblies, marches, rallies and other similar events. The Department will begin training its officers on July 24th 2007. The training will consist of a 10-hour day and will involve every officer including command staff personnel.

Members of the media will be allowed to film portions of the training being administered to the officers. A PIO will be at the entrance of the facility to direct media personnel to the parking area. Due to limited parking on the base an arrival time of 11:30 is suggested.

Deputy Chief Michael Hillman will be available to members of the media for interviews.

Spanish speaking PIO’s will be on site for interviews.
