WHY:
On February 18, 2008, SWAT Officer Randal D. Simmons was fatally wounded as he entered a building to rescue people.  

Officer Simmons was a dedicated SWAT officer who devoted his off-duty time to helping youth in troubled areas as a minister in Carson’s Glory Christian Fellowship International Church as well as in areas throughout South Central Los Angeles.  The Randal D. Simmons Outreach Foundation is a nonprofit organization designed to serve, empower and encourage families and individuals in underserved areas.  The organization was established by Randal’s wife Lisa Simmons to continue Randal’s legacy of spreading love and serving the community.  The proceeds of this event will benefit the Randal Simmons Foundation.

The general public, members of the media, runners of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to participate in this event.
