Los Angeles Police Department Officer and Two Men Charged with Operating an Illegal Gambling Operation
Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Special Operations Division, in partnership with the California Department of Justice’s Bureau of Gambling Control and the California Alcohol Beverage Control, recently completed an extensive investigation into an illegal gambling operation. An LAPD officer and two other individuals allegedly orchestrated the operation where participants placed high-dollar bets on the outcome of the National Football League’s Super Bowl.
On April 22, 2021, Police Officer Robert Felix, Francisco Martin Del Campo, and Gabriel Martin Del Campo, will be arraigned in a Pomona court on multiple felony charges of bookmaking. The California Department of Justice’s Fraud and Special Prosecution Section filed the criminal charges earlier this month. Officer Felix is a 13-year veteran of the LAPD and was last assigned to Transit Services Division. He currently is assigned home with no police powers. The Department of Justice (DOJ) has requested that we not move forward on the administrative personnel investigation until after the arraignment.
LAPD’s Special Operations Division, under Professional Standards Bureau, is responsible for investigating criminal and administrative allegations of misconduct against Department employees.
