Los Angeles: The Women of Courage Award is awarded by the Commission on the Status of Women to female police officers who have demonstrated valor and unselfish commitment to others.
This year’s recipient, LAPD Officer Adrianne Legaspi, on several occasions has demonstrated her devotion and dedication to her job as a police officer. She has shown her altruism on numerous occasions by performing beyond the call of duty, showing compassion to members of the community she serves.
On one of these occasions, Officer Legaspi investigated a case of a purse snatch robbery. The suspect stole $200.00 from the victim. Recognizing the traumatic impact of this crime, and the loss of the money, to the victim and her family, Officer Legaspi used her own money, donating $200.00 to the victim. Moments later, Officer Legaspi responded to a scene, where a man was having an apparent heart attack. Officer Legaspi administered CPR on the victim and summoned the Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics, who responded in time to save the victim.
Officer Legaspi’s attention to duty and diligent police work, led to the arrest of the suspect in the case involving the murder of Chief of Police Bernard C. Parks’ granddaughter, Lori Gonzalez.
These are but a few examples of Officer Legaspi’s accomplishments that will be recognized at the luncheon in her honor at the Woman of Courage Award ceremony.
The media is cordially invited to attend this event.
