Oxnard: On Saturday, April 3, The Peace Officers Association of Ventura County will be holding the 31st Annual "Medal of Valor"awards dinner and ceremony.
The Medal of Valor and Medal of Merit will be presented to 31 recipients including two Los Angeles Police Department Police Officers for exceptional Bravery. Los Angeles Police Department, Officers Maurice Hallauer, a 8 year veteran and Edward Heredia, a 6 year veteran will be awarded the Medal of Valor. In August 2003, Officers Hallauer and Heredia were attending a Collision Investigation Reconstruction Course in Ventura County. These officers along with 8 other officers were in a classroom when they were being fired upon. Officer Hallauer and Officer Heredia repeatedly placed their lives in peril attempting to stop the aggressive actions of a violent gunman.
