WHY:
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has launched the “Otter Pops from Cops program”, an initiative created by The Jel Sert Company to help open a dialogue between police offers and the communities they serve. The program’s primary goal is to give officers a way to start a conversation with community members and establish relationships through the simple act of sharing an Otter Pop. The “Otter Pops from Cops” program’s initial launch was in 2020 but was delayed due to the pandemic. A successful pilot program was done in 2021-2022 through the Community Safety Partnership Bureau. The program is at 21 geographical police stations in Los Angeles.

The event will include an Otter Pops display, and LAPD Officers will hand out frozen Otter Pops for the children and families at the park. There will be numerous kids from park camp, sporting activities, and kids from the Summer Night Lights program.
