WHAT: “Over the Edge” LAPD HQ Event

WHEN: Wednesday, May 22, 2019 11a.m. to 2 p.m.

WHO: LAPD Chief Michel Moore LAPD Deputy Chief Blake Chow, Commanding Officer Transit Service Bureau LAPD Captain Al Labrada, Assistant Commanding Officer South Bureau LAPD 77th Area Community Relations Special Olympics Southern California Law Enforcement Torch Run

WHY: LAPD officers are regularly working to identify opportunities to work with our community. For many years LAPD has been supporting the efforts of Special Olympics Southern California to help promote inclusion amongst community and athletes with disabilities.

On August 10, 2019 at the Hyatt Garden Grove, law enforcement agencies throughout Los Angeles and Orange Counties will come together to rappel 16 stories to support Special Olympics. www.sosc.org/ote.

The kick-off event on May 22nd will provide an opportunity to highlight the efforts of LAPD to support Special Olympics. Food Trucks will be available for lunch with proceeds supporting Special Olympics. LAPD SWAT will provide a rappel demonstration, LAPD static displays will be available for the public. 11 a.m. – Lunch trucks begin service and static displays 1 p.m. – Chief Moore and Special Olympic Athletes highlight event 1:15 p.m. – LAPD SWAT demonstration 2 p.m. – Event concludes
