WHAT: For the 13th consecutive year, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) will partner with The Sunshine Kids Foundation to provide a once-in-a-lifetime experience for kids who are fighting cancer.

WHO: LAPD Assistant Chief Beatrice Girmala, Office of Special Operations LAPD Commander Gerald Woodyard, Community Engagement Group Actor G.W. Bailey, Executive Director of The Sunshine Kids Foundation Sunshine Kids from around the United States
WHY: During the event, The Sunshine Kids will be sworn in as honorary LAPD Officers. The ceremony, attended by 75 active and LAPD Reserve Police Officers will also feature the LAPD’s Concert Band and a flyover by an LAPD Airship.
After the swearing in ceremony, The Sunshine Kids will be transported in Black & White Police cars through the streets of Hollywood. In addition, the parade of police cars will be escorted by a team of LAPD Motorcycle Officers with lights and sirens. The “honorary officers” will be greeted by Raleigh Studios actors and staff members.
About the Sunshine Kids Foundation:
The Sunshine Kids is a national non-profit organization dedicated to children with cancer. Established in 1982, the Foundation is committed to providing positive group activities and emotional support for young cancer patients. The Sunshine Kids provides a variety of programs and events, free of charge, for kids who are receiving cancer treatments in hospitals across North America.
