Why:
For the 16th consecutive year, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) will partner with The Sunshine Kids Foundation to provide a once-in-a-lifetime experience for kids who are fighting cancer.

The Sunshine Kids will be sworn in as honorary LAPD Officers during the event.
The ceremony will be attended by approximately 45 active and mostly Reserve Police Officers.  The LAPD Airship helicopter will also conduct a flyover congratulating the kids.
After the swearing-in ceremony, The Sunshine Kids will enjoy lunch and interact with LAPD Reserve Police Officers, as well as LAPD displays from specialized units.

About the Sunshine Kids Foundation:
The Sunshine Kids Foundation is a national non-profit organization dedicated to children with cancer. Established in 1982, the Foundation is committed to providing positive group activities and
emotional support for young cancer patients. The Sunshine Kids provides a variety of programs and events, free of charge, for kids who are receiving cancer treatments in hospitals across
North America.
