LAPD Promotes Nine to Its Staff and Command Ranks

Los Angeles: On Friday, December 20, 2002, Los Angeles Police Department Chief of Police William J. Bratton promoted the following personnel.
LAPD Commander Gary Brennan, assigned as the Commanding Officer of Community Affairs Group, was promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief and is now assigned as the Commanding Officer of Operations Central Bureau. The Department’s Public Information Director, Ms. Mary Grady, who was elevated by Chief Bratton and tabbed as the new Commanding Officer of Community Affairs Group, replaced Chief Brennan. Captain III Mark Perez was promoted to the rank of Commander and is now assigned as the Department’s Employee Relations Administrator.
Lieutenants Clay Farrell and Jeri Weinstein were promoted to the rank of Captain.
Chief Forensic Chemist Steven Johnson, Senior Personnel Analyst II Nancy Gennusa, Senior Management Analyst II Barbara Taylor and Senior Management Analyst II Yvette Sanchez-Owens were promoted to Police Administrators 1.
These promotions are consistent with the Department’s tradition of promoting those best qualified to positions of increased responsibilities within the organization.
