Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department proudly announces that it will graduate two new classes of police recruits at an open ceremony that will take place at the historic Elysian Park Police Academy. The new officers will have completed 1064 hours of training over the course of 28 weeks.
Since the inception of the Los Angeles Public Safety Plan in July 1993, ninety-seven recruit classes consisting of 5533 officers have graduated.
Over 113 recruit officers remain in the training academy, with a new class scheduled to start each month. It is anticipated that over 500 guests will attend the ceremony with Chief Bernard C. Parks conducting a formal inspection of the recruit classes. Members of the Police Commission and the Police Department Command Staff will be in attendance, as well as other dignitaries.
