LAPD Releases Names of Officers Involved in Shooting

Los Angeles: The police department has released the names of the two officers involved in the shooting yesterday morning, February 6, 2005, which occurred at 83rd Street and Western Avenue.

Officer Dana Grant, 29 years old, with 6 years of service, was driving the police car at the time of the incident. She did not fire her weapon.
Officer Steven Garcia, 31 years old, with 9 years of service, was the passenger officer who fired his weapon.

Both officers are assigned to desk duty at Newton Area police station, pending a post-incident briefing given to the Chief of Police. Such briefings are usually conducted 72 hours after officer involved shootings. These reviews include an evaluation by police department psychologists.
The shooting investigation will continue, and upon completion, the case will be presented to the District Attorney’s office.
