The victim has succumbed to his injuries and this is a fatal hit-and-run investigation.
On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
LAPD Seeks Driver in Severe Injury Hit-and-Run
Los Angeles: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division are seeking the public’s help in identifying the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run that left a pedestrian with serious injuries.
On January 12, 2026, around 6:55 p.m., a silver Honda Odyssey was traveling northbound on Western Avenue at 45th Place when the driver failed to yield to a pedestrian crossing in an unmarked crosswalk, striking the victim. The driver failed to stop, identify themselves, or render aid to the victim, as required by law.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and transported the pedestrian to a local hospital in critical condition. The pedestrian is a 66-year-old male. The vehicle was last seen traveling eastbound on 42nd Place from Western Avenue.
Motorists are reminded that if they are involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves. Pedestrians are also reminded to use caution on the roadway and not to pose a hazard to oncoming vehicles.
