The Los Angeles Police Department Southwest Area Youth Board is hosting a Public Safety Youth Conference.   The conference is comprised of youth from high schools and youth organizations in South Los Angeles, including Jefferson High School, Fremont High School, Foshay Learning Center, College Ready Academy High #5, Manual Arts High School, Crenshaw High School, West Adams Academy Prep, Dorsey High School, and the Southwest Area Teen Community Police Advisory Board.

The LAPD Southwest Youth Board has reached out to student councils of local senior high schools and leadership groups and compiled the following topics for discussion: police and youth community relations, gang violence, bullying and negative peer pressure, personal responsibility, conflict resolution, goal setting, drug use realities and myths and community quality of life enhancement.

The goal of the Youth Conference is to glean advice, concerns and recommendations on deterring crime, public safety, and community policing from the perspective of the youth in our communities.
