WHAT: Cops and Kids: Working Together for Peace on the Streets

WHEN: Thursday, May 21, 2015 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

WHERE: Berendo Middle School 1157 South Berendo Street Los Angeles, Ca. 90006

WHO: Deputy Chief, Beatrice Girmala, LAPD West Bureau Constitutional Rights Foundation LAPD police officers Los Angeles Unified School District students

WHY: The Constitutional Rights Foundation (CRF) and LAPD have partnered together to provide students an opportunity to learn about police work; and work with local law enforcement to improve police-community relations. Approximately 400 students will have the opportunity to experience law enforcement from the point of view of police, suspects and witnesses.

The Cops and Kids program began over 20 years ago and continues to establish open lines of communication between students and law enforcement.

VISUALS: The media will be allowed to capture the simulation exercises. LAPD officers CRF representatives will be available to answer any questions.
