LAPD’s Response to Verdict in Robert Blake Trial

March 16, 2005

Los Angeles: Today’s jury verdict in the People v. Robert Blake murder trial came as a disappointment to Los Angeles Police Department detectives. The LAPD and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office worked in close collaboration during the investigation and prosecution of this case.
"This was a thorough investigation that spanned eleven months and included over 200 interviews. It was a strong case of circumstantial evidence. Preliminary information from the jurors is that they did not think the evidence supported a conviction. We respect the jury’s decision," said LAPD 1st Assistant Chief Jim McDonnell.
