LAPD’s Topanga Division Launches Volunteer Community Patrol program NA18157jl

WHAT: Media Availability to announce the launch of the Topanga Division Volunteer Community Patrol (TVCP) program.

WHEN: Thursday August 16, 2018 10 a.m.

WHERE: Topanga Community Police Station 21501 Schoenborn Street Canoga Park, CA 91304

WHO: Los Angeles City Councilmember, Bob Blumenfield, Third District Los Angeles Police Department, Captain Maureen Ryan, Topanga Division Topanga Volunteer Community Patrol Members

WHY: The mission of the Volunteer Community Patrol Program is to assist LAPD in reducing crime by providing high visible policing in high crime areas within the LAPD Topanga Area. The frequency of patrols, locations, days, and times will vary based upon the needs of the LAPD.

Participation by the TVCP serves to increase LAPD patrol presence in high crime areas, thus acting as a deterrent.

Each of the Volunteers must pass a background screening process and complete training in the following areas prior to joining the program.

*Vehicle operations *Slow speed driving/backing *Radio Procedures and Penal Codes *Duties and Responsibilities
