Law Enforcement-Related Injury in Central Division

**The following information is based on a preliminary and ongoing investigation, which continues to evolve as investigators interview witnesses, review physical and electronic records, and analyze forensic evidence. Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) Force Investigation Division is investigating a Law Enforcement Related Injury (LERI) that occurred in Central Division.

On March 28, 2026, at around 8:40 p.m., LAPD officers from various divisions were deployed to a planned protest in Central Area. During the event, Southeast officers were directed to detain the subject, later identified as a 17-year-old male juvenile, for assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer. The subject physically resisted the officers resulting in a Non-Categorical Use of Force.

The subject was later transported to a local hospital by LAPD personnel where he was ultimately admitted for treatment as a result of injuries sustained during the use of force.

Force Investigation Division (FID) personnel assumed investigative responsibility for this incident.

No other community members were injured as a result of this incident.
