Los Angeles: On June 14, 2025, at around 6:15 pm., Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers from multiple divisions were deployed to a planned protest in Central Area.
During the event, members of the crowd began assaulting officers by throwing objects, including rocks and bottles. Officers responded by discharging less-lethal munitions. One individual, later identified as Robert Dye, was struck on the left side of his head. Dye subsequently transported himself to a hospital, where he was admitted for medical treatment.
On October 27, 2026, Force Investigation Division (FID) was notified of Dye’s hospitalization in connection with an Internal Affairs investigation stemming from a lawsuit filed by Dye. FID is assuming investigative responsibility for the use of force during the incident.
