LAX Cargo Theft Suspects Arrested

On November 3, 1999, at 1120 A.M., Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s LAX Detail, Airport Crimes Unit, received a tip from a citizen who reported that cargo theft suspects were in the area of 111th Street and Aviation Blvd near the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Members of the Airport Crimes Unit responded to the area and interviewed the citizen who provided a description of two vehicles believed to contain cargo theft suspects.

Armed with the description of the vehicles, officers began searching the Airport cargo areas. After a search of the area, one of the vehicles, a green 1999 Ford Expedition was located parked in front of one of the cargo loading areas. After a brief surveillance, two suspects entered the vehicle and began driving out of the airport. LAX Detail officers stopped the vehicle and arrested the occupants for 487 PC, Grand Theft.

Additional follow-up investigation led officers to a location in the Northeast Area of Los Angeles, where a large amount of suspected stolen property was recovered and two additional suspects were arrested for 496 PC, Receiving Stolen Property.

Arrested were Guillermo Alcivar and Jon Doe booked for 487 PC, Grand Theft, and Patricio Sanchez and Olga Lopez booked for 496 PC, Receiving Stolen Property.

The value of the property recovered is estimated at $150,000.

The LAX Detail, Airport Crimes Unit, is handling the investigation.
