Los Angeles Cargo Theft Suspect Identified NR11319mf

Los Angeles:  The Los Angeles Police Department’s Commercial Crimes Detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect, who has been responsible for a series of cargo thefts in the Los Angeles Area.

Beginning March, 2011through July, 2011, the suspect identified as Ashot Shaumyan, along with several other suspects have been responsible for a series of cargo thefts.  The suspects are providing false paperwork to freight brokers in order to commit the crimes.  The suspects, using their own truck/trailers will arrive at the shipping/receiving location and provide a false driver’s license to the warehouse personnel.  To date, losses total over $3 million dollars.

On a recent theft of seafood in the Central area, detectives identified Shaumyan who is described as a male, 5-8, 150 pounds with a date of birth of 7-28-59.  The suspect is believed to be of Armenian descent.   

Detectives have developed a number of leads, but need the public’s assistance in locating the suspect.
