"Los Angeles Police Department to Join American United Flag Across America"
 

Los Angeles: Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department will join the "American United Flag Across America" running relay when it enters its final destination, the City of Los Angeles, this Sunday, November 11, 2001. Representatives of American and United Airlines and the public safety community have carried the American flag throughout the United States in honor of the victims of the September 11, 2001 tragedy. The flag left Boston on October 11, 2001, destined for Los Angeles. The two cities represent the origination and destination of United Airlines Flight 175 and American Airlines Flight 11. The run will conclude at Dockweiler Beach at approximately 2:00 p.m. Los Angeles Police Chief Bernard C. Parks will join dignitaries and family members in a ceremony highlighting this event.
