WHY:
Following the enactment from California Assembly Bill 1314, Feather Alert, the LAPD recommended the necessity to establish our inaugural Native American Leadership Academy. This Academy represented a collaborative venture with esteemed leaders from our Nation’s First People with the goal to cultivate meaningful partnerships.

By mutually sharing resources among community members, Native American stakeholders, and the LAPD, we are setting the groundwork for a cooperative effort. This symbiotic endeavor was intended to continue the trust and development of partnerships that are instrumental in addressing the critical issue of the Missing and Murdered Indigenous People Crisis. This collective engagement signifies a step forward in building a foundation of mutual respect to continue significant strides against this pressing topic.
