Detective Jose Marcos Espinoza:
Tutors and mentors at risk youth, established scholarship fund for homeless students and created a homeless food delivery program.
Officer Jimmie Barlow:
Works with Boy Scouts, conducts fundraising activities and works
directly with homeless youth to improve their lives.
Officer Ronnie Daniels:
Works with community soccer programs and is heavily involved in
fundraising for at risk youth.
Officer Michael Scott:
Founded the Annual Baseball Swing-A-Thon, Holiday Toy Drive and
runs charity events to raise thousands of dollars for under privileged kids.

Los Angeles: In 1998, a small group of leading business, professional and civic-minded leaders from all walks of life established the non-profit Los Angeles Police Foundation to fund urgently needed police programs and safety equipment not covered by the City budget. In 2003 alone, the Foundation provided advanced technology to key law enforcement personnel allowing senior lead officers to be in constant communication with the people they serve. Direct connect phones for the Bomb Squad and Hazardous Materials Unit were also provided to help secure communications. The Foundation also has established scholarships to help provide management training for the department and to help graduating high school seniors, planning a career in law enforcement, pay for college.
On Sunday, October 10, 2004, the Los Angeles Police Foundation will host the 5th Annual March on Crime Brunch. Actor Neal McDonough of NBC’s "Medical Investigation," will emcee the event’s program and help to honor Paula Kent Meehan, founder of Redken Laboratories who will be honored for her extraordinary support of the LAPD and the community.
The Los Angeles Police Foundation will also present the prestigious "Crystal Angel Award" to Detective I Jose Marcos Espinoza, Special Operations Support Division, Police Officer III Ronnie Daniels and Police Officer III Jimmie Barlow, Metropolitan Division, and Police Officer II Mike Scott, Devonshire Division. This annual award is governed by strict and demanding criteria. Candidates nominated and selected to receive this award must have distinguished themselves by acts of exceptional compassion, personal commitment, and for their exemplary contributions to the community both on and off duty.
