Luxury Hotel Theft Suspect Sought NR10118gb

March 9, 2010

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Commercial Crimes Division, Burglary Special Section detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect who stole jewelry from a hotel guest room.

On March 5, 2010, the suspect posed as a hotel employee and entered a Four Seasons Hotel guest room in the 300 block of South Doheny Drive in LAPD’s Wilshire Area where he took $40,000 worth of jewelry from the victim.  Security video captured the suspect on the hotel’s elevator prior to the crime.

Hoping similar incidents can be avoided, detectives are releasing the surveillance still photo from the hotel to alert other local hotels of the suspect’s criminal activity and to encourage them to take every precaution.

The detectives’ investigation is in the preliminary stages, and at this time they are uncertain if the suspect is the same one linked to several downtown hotel theft cases from last year.

*A surveillance still photo of the suspect is available through Media Relations Section and attached with this release.
