Man Arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon Hate Crime NR21135rj

On May 25, 2021 at about 1:05 a.m., Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) investigators from Wilshire Division arrested a second male suspect in the City of Anaheim. The man is considered one of the primary suspects in the assault and beating that occurred in the Mid-City area on May 18, 2021 on La Cienega Boulevard near a restaurant.

The suspect has been identified as 35-year-old Samer Jayylusi, a resident of Whittier, California, and he has been booked in Los Angeles for Penal Code § 245 (A)(1) – Assault with a deadly weapon.

This case will be presented to the District Attorney for filing consideration in the upcoming days and detectives will be seeking additional charges for hate crimes. This is an ongoing investigation. The suspect has been identified as 30-year-old Xavier Pabon, a resident of Banning, California, and he has been booked in Los Angeles for Penal Code § 245 (A)(1) – Assault with a deadly weapon.

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) Wilshire Division announces the arrest of an Assault with a Deadly Weapon Crime suspect.

On Friday, May 21, 2021, around 10:15 p.m., a man was taken into custody at a residence outside the city of Los Angeles with the assistance of Los Angeles and Inland Empire teams from the United States Marshal Service taskforce. The LAPD received many tips from the public on this case which assisted with the ultimate identification of the suspect. He was ultimately tracked down and taken into custody without incident. The suspect was arrested for Penal Code Section 245(A)(1) – Assault with a Deadly Weapon and the LAPD has requested his bail be enhanced due to the crime being motivated by hatred.

The male is one of the primary suspects in the assault and beating of several men who were outside of a restaurant in the evening hours in the Mid-City area of Los Angeles on Tuesday May 18, 2021. The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office and detectives will be seeking additional charges for hate crimes.

The LAPD will continue to work diligently to identify, locate, and arrest the other suspects in the May 18, 2021 assault. The LAPD is thankful to the public and our law enforcement partners as we work to protect and serve all Angelenos.
