On Friday, March 23, 2012, at 11:15 p.m., Suspect Maldonado was arrested by LAPD detectives at the United States, San Ysidro border crossing. Maldonado was arrested and booked for Murder.
Los Angeles: On Friday, March 23, 2012, at 6:35 a.m., officers assigned to Mission Division responded to the medical center located in the 11200 block of N. Sepulveda Boulevard for evidence of a possible crime. Once they arrived they found 41-year-old Florentino Reyes-Lucas, an independent contractor working as a janitor, dead in the basement of the building.
Soon after arriving to the scene, Mission Area Homicide Detectives learned that the suspect, 43-year-old Jesus Bautista Maldonado, a resident of Los Angeles, confronted the victim and stabbed him, causing his death.
It is believed that suspect Maldonado has fled the country. Suspect Maldonado is described as a male Hispanic who stands 5’6’’ tall and weighs 200 pounds.
