"Man Killed During Dispute"

Los Angeles – On August 17, 2000 at approximately 5:30 p.m. a 22-year-old male Hispanic, walking in the 2500 block of 12th Street, became engaged in a verbal dispute with two male Hispanics at that location. During the dispute, one of the suspects shot the victim in the upper portion of his body. The suspects fled the location on bicycles. The victim ran west on 12th Street to Dewey Street where he collapsed on the southeast corner.

Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital where he died as a result of his injuries. The victim’s identification is being withheld pending notification to the next of kin.

During a subsequent investigation, the shooter was identified as a 15-year-old male Hispanic, who was arrested and booked for murder. The second suspect is still being sought and is identified only as a male Hispanic. The motive for this crime appears to be gang related.
