Man Killed in Hit-And-Run Traffic Collision NR12103gb

March 5, 2012

Los Angeles: LAPD South Traffic detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing information about a hit and run traffic collision that left one man fatally injured in South Los Angeles.

On Wednesday, January 11, 2012, around 12:35 p.m., 22-year-old, Charles Frazier of Los Angeles was traveling south on Normandie Avenue, approaching Vernon Avenue  in a 1986 Chevy Camaro when he was struck from behind by a driver in a possible Chevy Monte Carlo or Impala that was also traveling south on Normandie Avenue.  The impact of the collision caused the driver in the Chevy Camaro to cross over the double yellow lines and veered into opposing traffic, colliding into an oncoming vehicle. Frazier was ejected from his car.

The male driver in the possible Monte Carlo/Impala continued south on Normandie Avenue, and fled from the scene without rendering aid or identifying himself.

Frazier was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries. Investigators believe that the hit-and-run driver is an African-American male, 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet one inch tall and weighs about 175-180 pounds. He was wearing a red bandana, black baseball hat and black shirt. The Chevy Monte Carlo or Chevy Impala was black or dark in color with large chrome rims.
