Man Shot And Killed After Altercation

Los Angeles: On Wednesday, January 7, 2004, at about 1:40 a.m., Hollywood Area patrol officers responded to a shooting call in the area of 5173 Hollywood Boulevard.
Upon the officers’ arrival, they observed a 40-45 year-old male slumped on the sidewalk, the victim of an apparent gunshot wound. Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded and transported the victim to a local hospital where he was subsequently pronounced dead at 2:20 a.m.
The investigation has disclosed that the victim was involved in an altercation with two possible Hispanic males outside of Jumbo’s Clown Room, a local bar. During the altercation the victim sustained a gunshot wound. It is unknown at this time what precipitated the altercation.
There were a larger number of people in and around the area at the time of the shooting, however, none have been able to provide a substantial description of the suspects. The victim’s identity has not been established at this time.
