Man Shot and Killed in South L.A. NR11126bb

Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Criminal Gang Homicide Division detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that would lead to the arrest of the suspect who shot and killed a 44-year-old man in South L.A.    

On Monday, March 21, 2011 at around 9:30 p.m., the victim, described as a 44-year-old Black male, was standing in front of a residence located in the 800 block of West 48th Street when a suspect walked up and shot him.  Neighbors reported hearing an argument, followed by multiple gunshots, then a vehicle speeding away.  

From their initial investigation, detectives believe the suspect, described only as a Black male, shot the victim, got into the front passenger seat of a dark colored SUV that drove west on 48th Street.  Detectives believe that the motive for this crime is gang related.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics rushed the victim to a local hospital where he died.  The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of his family.
