Man Shot in His Car While Driving NR10368cj

July 19, 2010

Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Criminal Gang Homicide detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that would lead to the arrest of three suspects who shot a man driving near an intersection in South Los Angeles.

On Monday, July 19, 2010, at 9:55 a.m., 77th patrol officers received a radio call of a shooting that occurred in the area of 71st Street and Victoria Street.  Once the officers arrived at the scene they observed a male Hispanic in a car suffering from gunshot wounds.

Los Angeles City Rescue ambulance personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for his injuries.  He is currently listed in critical condition.

Criminal Gang Homicide detectives responded and took over the investigation.  Detectives believe that the 20-year-old victim was driving a silver four-door, 2005 Dodge Stratus at the intersection of 71st Street and Victoria Street when three male Hispanics driving a light colored sedan shot him for no apparent reason.  The suspects drove away from the scene northbound on Victoria Street.

The detectives believe that the motive is gang related.  The suspects, their vehicle and weapons are outstanding.
