Man Shot

On November 6, 1999 at about 10:08 P.M., Van Nuys patrol officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon shots fired radio call at the 8100 block of Langdon Avenue, Panorama City. Upon their arrival they found several citizens attempting to put Francisco Elenes, age 40, into a car. When the officers observed that Elenes was the victim of a gunshot wound to his chest they notified LAFD Paramedics. After an unsuccessful attempt to resuscitate Elenes, the paramedics pronounced death at the scene at 10:38 P.M.

Van Nuys Homicide Detectives responded and conducted the Crime Scene Investigation, which revealed that the victim was inside his apartment with this wife and three young children when two suspects came to his door. Immediately upon the suspects entering the residence a gunfight broke out during which Elenes was shot once. It is not clear what the circumstances were at the door, or if the victim knew the suspects. After the shooting, the suspects fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The victim lived at the location with his wife and three children, ages 11, 5 and 1. The suspects and weapons are outstanding. The motive is not known at this time.
