WHAT:          
MLK Parade

WHEN:    
Monday, Jan. 17, 2011
10:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

WHERE:    
Beginning at Martin Luther King (MLK) Blvd at Western Ave; ending at Crenshaw Blvd and Vernon Ave.

WHY:           
 It is the Department’s goal to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for community members and media personnel who will be attending and covering this event.
At the start of the parade route, designated staging/parking for Media vehicles shall be on Western Ave north of MLK Blvd.  Media may gather along the sidewalk area adjacent to the indicated parade point of MLK Blvd at Western Ave.

For the end of the parade, designated staging/parking for Media vehicles shall be on Vernon Ave east of Crenshaw. The media viewing area for the destination point will be along the sidewalks of Vernon Ave east of Crenshaw Blvd.

In the event of an unlawful assembly declaration, and in accordance with the CRESPO  settlement, the Incident Commander will avoid moving crowds into areas designated as media staging. In the event of an unlawful assembly declaration during a march, additional media area(s), outside of the impacted area, will be designated by the Incident Commander and disseminated to the media.

Media personnel will be available throughout the parade route to assist with any issues that may arise.
