Twenty-eight years ago, Captain Paul Hernandez and his partner were police officers working Rampart Division when they were flagged down by a man who was screaming for help at 2nd Street and Vermont Avenue.

The male driver told Hernandez and his partner that his wife was in the back seat of his car and was about to have a baby.  Hernandez performed an emergency delivery of the baby without the assistance of medical personnel.

Shortly after the delivery Hernandez and his partner discovered the newborn was not breathing.  They transported the infant to a nearby hospital.  The baby was resuscitated and fully recovered.

Captain Paul Hernandez will meet that baby girl for the second time; this time as an adult.  The event will take place at the scene of the incident.
