Why:
The LAPD Mounted Unit will be retiring "Duke", a 21-year-old horse who has been with the Mounted Unit since 2013. "Duke" will be retiring to First Responders First (FRF) Ranch. First Responders First is an in-patient treatment facility which serves first responders battling addiction, PTSD, and other disorders. The facility offers equine therapy as part of their program. "Duke" will join two prior Mounted Unit horses who have retired to the Ranch. Additional information can be found at www.firstrespondersfirst.com

Media is invited to be present at 10:30 a.m. to hear about "Duke’s" service with LAPD and the amazing program he will become a part of at FRF. Following the introduction, "Duke" will be brought from his stall for photo opportunities and taken to the LAPD Mounted Unit trailer for his ride into retirement.
