May 5, 2006

*UPADATE* The missing person, Janet Serra, has been found.

Los Angeles: The husband of Janet Sullivan Serra and the Los Angeles Police Department are asking the public’s help in locating Janet, who was last seen in the backyard of her Pacific Palisades home, in the 700 block of Ocampo Drive.

According to Janet’s husband of 55 years, Norman Serra, Janet, 76, wandered away from the backyard yesterday evening, May 4, 2006, around 5:30 PM. Janet’s condition is complicated by Alzheimer’s disease and high blood pressure, for which she takes medication.

She has gone missing in the past, but returned home a few hours later. She is prone to sitting in cars. Janet is unable to give her name or address, but she is wearing a medic alert bracelet, which has a contact number for any finder to call.

Police used K-9s to search for Janet, but the dogs lost the scent of the trail near Pampas Ricas Boulevard and Ocampo Drive.

Janet has a fair complexion, gray hair and blue eyes. She is 5 feet tall and weighs 120 pounds. She was wearing a long-sleeve red shirt, blue jeans, and black shoes.

Norman Serra is available for interviews. He is concerned for his wife’s welfare, and hopes she will be found soon.

A photograph of Janet is available from Media Relations Section via e-mail.
