Multiple Suspects Arrested in Connection to Hollywood Hills Murder NR20163ma

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division announce the arrest of five suspects in a murder investigation

On February 19, 2020, around 4:00 am, several suspects entered a short-term rental home in the Hollywood Hills where 20-year-old Bashar Jackson, a rap artist from New York known by the stage name “Pop Smoke,” was staying while visiting Los Angeles. The suspects robbed and shot Jackson inside the residence, killing him. Robbery-Homicide Division detectives were summoned to the scene and have handled the investigation.

During the course of the investigation, it was revealed that members of a Los Angeles street gang, were involved in the murder of Jackson; as well as the murder of 18-year-old Kamryn Stone. Stone was murdered in a Rose Bowl parking lot in Pasadena, California on September 14, 2019. As a result, the Los Angeles Police Department investigators and Pasadena Police Department investigators collaborated their investigative efforts.

Today, LAPD Robbery-Homicide Division announced the arrest of five suspects believed to have been involved in the robbery and murder of Bashar Jackson. The arrests consist of three adult males and 2 male juveniles, charges stemming from robbery to murder.

Suspect – 1: Corey Walker, DOB: 11/22/2000, a Los Angeles resident was arrested on July 9, 2020, around 2:10 a.m. near Laurel Canyon Blvd & the Hollywood Freeway and booked for 187(a)PC-Murder. Bail is set at $1,000,000.00. Booking #: 5968684.

Suspect – 2: Jaquan Murphy, DOB: 12/4/1998, a Los Angeles resident was arrested on July 9, 2020, around 5:30 a.m. in the 9500 block of South Avalon Boulevard and booked for 664/187(a)PC-Attempt Murder. Bail is set at $1,000,000.00. Booking #: 5968824.

Suspect – 3: Keandre D. Rodgers, DOB: 2/13/2002, a Los Angeles resident was arrested on July 9, 2020, around 5:10 a.m. in the 300 block of West 74th Street and booked for 187(a)PC-Murder. Bail is set at $1,000,000.00. Booking #: 5968925.

At this time, Pasadena Police Department investigators continue with their investigation and are not releasing further details on the murder of Kamryn Stone.
