Murder Investigation

Los Angeles – On Sunday, January 21, 2001, at 1:50 a.m., Foothill Area officers responded to a radio call of an "ADW / Shots Fired, Just Occurred" in the 10600 block of El Dorado Avenue, in Pacoima. Upon arrival at the scene, the officers discovered the body of a male Hispanic trapped inside an overturned vehicle. The vehicle overturned as a result of colliding with a parked vehicle. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to his torso prior to the collision. The victim, identified as Andres Escobar, a 20 year-old resident of Sylmar, was pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics.
The investigation revealed the shooting was the result of a dispute between the victim, who was seated in his vehicle, and an unknown assailant. The motive for the argument or the shooting is not known at this time. The suspect(s) is/are outstanding.
