Los Angeles: Homicide Detectives are investigating the shooting death of 26 year-old Jesse Lopez.
On April 30, 2003, at approximately 9:35 p.m., Jesse Lopez was at his residence located in the 2200 block of Gates Street. Lopez was inside his bedroom with his mother and thirteen year-old brother while the suspect stood outside the bedroom door armed with a handgun. The suspect, for unknown reasons, fired two rounds into the closed bedroom door. The suspect then entered the bedroom and fired three additional rounds at the victim. The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the back and upper torso. The suspect then fled the location. The suspect has been identified as 29 year-old Felipe Gonzales the cousin of the victim.
Los Angeles City Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and provided the victim with emergency medical treatment. The victim was transported to USC Medical Center where he died as a result of his injuries.
During the course of this investigation detectives received information that the suspect had stolen a vehicle and was being detained by the San Gabriel Police Department. Hollenbeck Homicide Detectives responded to San Gabriel Police Department and took the suspect into custody. Subsequently, the suspect was arrested and booked for 187(A) PC-Murder.
