Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s South Bureau Homicide Division announced the arrest of a suspect responsible for murder.

On Saturday evening, February 4, 2023, the victim and suspect (later identified as) Richard Lara left their apartment together and walked to a neighborhood store. After shopping, they returned home separately with the victim arriving first. When Lara returned, a dispute between the two turned into a physical altercation which led to the victim’s murder. Lara fled the location prior to police arrival.

The victim and the suspect had been together for approximately 13 years and were currently living together with their two children.

On Tuesday, February 7, 2023, members of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Gang and Narcotics Division located and arrested 38-year-old, Richard Lara in the City of Los Angeles. Lara was booked for 187(a) PC Murder (Booking Number. 6548679).

The case will be presented to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration on Thursday, February 9, 2023.
