"Murder Suspect Captured"

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department Central Area Homicide Detectives are investigating the stabbing death of a female Black in her mid 30’s.

On Tuesday, September 5, 2000, at approximately 5:00 a.m., Central Patrol Desk received information that there was a possible murder victim behind a Texaco gas station in downtown Los Angeles. Officers acting on the information discovered the remains of an unidentified female Black at 533 Colyton Street. The victim had apparently been bludgeoned and/or stabbed to death.

A follow-up investigation led to the arrest of one of the perpetrators. He has been identified as Ramon Ortiz, 31 years of age. Ortiz was booked for Murder. A second suspect remains unidentified and is being sought.

The motive in the case has not been determined.
