Koreatown: Murder suspect found dead inside apartment after an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
On May 9, 2015, around 8:10 p.m., Olympic Officers responded to a radio call of a shooting at a local bar, on 14th Street and Western Avenue. Upon arrival officers found the victim lying on the ground inside the bar.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded and pronounced the victim at scene. A second victim was fired upon outside of the bar and was not injured.
The deceased victim was identified as 36 year-old Siria Imelda Portillo.
The suspect was later identified as the victim’s estranged husband, 40 year-old Bob Leonel Duran. Homicide Detectives filed Murder, 187 PC charges on the suspect with the Los Angeles County District Attorney. A “No Bail” murder warrant was issued for his arrest.
On May 26, 2015, members of the FBI and LAPD Fugitive Task Force located the suspect inside of an apartment in the 200 block of North Kenmore Avenue. At around 2:15 p.m., the suspect barricaded himself and the Los Angeles Police Department, SWAT officers were requested to secure the scene.
After a lengthy stand-off, the suspect fired shots at several SWAT officers. No officers were injured and officers did not return fire. The officers discovered the suspect dead inside of the apartment with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The Los Angeles Fire Department pronounced the suspect dead at scene.
