Los Angeles: On June 7, 2023, Los Angeles Police Department Operations-Valley Bureau Homicide Detectives were notified that a second victim involved in the April 15, 2023 shooting incident which near the 19100 block of Parthenia Street has died. The victim’s name is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.

The Los Angeles District Attorney’s office has amended suspect Jamal Jackson’s charges to include a second count of 187 (A) PC-Murder.

***Update Suspect Arrested***

Ontario: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Operations-Valley Bureau Homicide Unit detectives are seeking additional victims following the arrest of murder suspect Jamal Jackson.

On April 16, 2023, Detectives assigned to the Operations-Valley Bureau Homicide Unit, the LAPD/FBI Fugitive and US Marshalls Task Force located and arrested Jamal Jackson in Ontario. Jackson’s white Toyota Camry was also located and recovered as evidence.

Investigation later revealed that nearby surveillance footage showed Jackson exiting his vehicle, a white Toyota Camry, near the victims who were painting out gang graffiti on Van Alden Avenue, north of Parthenia Street.

Jackson approached the Victims on foot and produced a handgun, firing at them multiple times. He then ran back to his vehicle and sped away.

Jamal Jackson, 24-year-old of Panorama City was arrested and booked for 187 (A) PC Murder under Booking # 6587743, No Bail.

On April 15, 2023, around 12:30 p.m., Devonshire Patrol Officers responded to an “Ambulance Shooting” near the 19100 block of Parthenia Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered four gunshot wound victims were all transported by Los Angeles Fire Department to nearby hospitals. One of the victims later succumbed to his injuries. Two of the victims underwent surgeries and the fourth was treated and released.

Detectives learned that the deceased was hired to paint out gang graffiti on the exterior wall of a business, located on Van Alden Avenue just north of Parthenia Street. While doing so, a white sedan driving northbound Van Alden Avenue, stopped near the victim and a male exited the driver side of the vehicle holding what was described as an “Uzi” type semi-auto handgun.

The shooter, described as a tall, light skinned male black in his thirties, opened fire and struck the victim multiple times in the chest. Three other males in the immediate vicinity of the victim, were also struck by gunfire. The shooter got back in the car and sped away northbound.

Detectives are currently canvassing the area for CCTV video as well as additional witnesses.
