Murder/Robbery Suspect Surrenders to Police

Van Nuys, Calif.: On Friday, February 18, 2000, the circumstances surrounding the murder of Leodardo Gomez-Perez and two related robberies at nearby 7-11 convenient stores, were presented to the Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney assigned to the Career Criminal Unit.

Following a review of the evidence, murder with special circumstances and robbery charges were secured. A warrant was issued for the arrest of Lamar Singleton. On Monday, February 21, 2000 at 2:00 p.m., suspect Lamar Singleton surrendered to the desk officers within Van Nuys Community Police Station. Several family members accompanied him at the time of his surrender.

Singleton was arrested based on the aforementioned warrant and was booked at Van Nuys Jail. Singleton is expected to be arraigned in Van Nuys court today.
