Los Angeles: On Sunday, October 14, 2001, at approximately 5:50 a.m., Rampart Patrol Offices responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon investigation at 3000 W. Leeward Avenue. Upon arriving, the officers observed a 25 year-old male Hispanic down on the sidewalk suffering from several gunshot wounds to his upper torso. Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded and transported the victim to USC Medical Center where the victim unfortunately succumbed to his wounds.
No suspect(s), weapons or vehicles were seen at or leaving the scene of the crime. The motive for the shooting is unknown.
The identity of the victim is unknown at this time.
