"Newborn Infant Found in Dumpster"

Los Angeles – On Thursday, May 18, 2000, at approximately 9:30 a.m., Hollenbeck Area Patrol officers responded to the 3100 block of Wynwood Lane, in the City of Los Angeles. A newborn infant was found in a dumpster by an individual checking for recyclables. The infant was transported via rescue ambulance to a local hospital, where the infant remains in critical condition. The infant is described as a male, possibly Hispanic. The Abused Child Unit of the Los Angeles Police Department is currently handling the investigation.
